St. Philip Neri Catholic Primary School offers numerous extra-curricular opportunities for students.
Music
A specialist music teacher is employed one day a week. In addition there are opportunities for children to participate in a school choir and participate in the end of year performance.
School Band
Children can join the school band. Music tutors also provide lessons for children learning a musical instrument. This program is run by Teaching Services.
Sport
Students attend clinics for soccer, rugby, cricket and Aussie rules.
We hold successful athletics and swimming carnivals. Children from Year 2 onward are able to participate in diocesan gala days for netball, soccer, basketball, cross country, athletics and swimming. Several elite athletes are chosen to represent Polding at the state level.
For our dance component the children have the opportunity to work with a professional choreographer
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 students participate in a Surf Awareness program @ Manly Beach.
The children thoroughly enjoy the facilities at Northbridge Oval for their sporting program
Public Speaking
All students from K-6 participate in the whole school public speaking program
Senior students are selected to participate in the Lower North Shore Cluster Public Speaking Competition.
Debating
Stage 3 students are involved in a Debating Circle with neighbouring schools in the North Shore Cluster.
Chess
Children from Years K-6 have the opportunity to participate in the School Chess Coaching Classes operated by The Sydney Academy of Chess. Classes are held from 7.45- 8.45am on a Friday morning.
Language
Children have the opportunity to study French. Classes are held before school on a Wednesday morning.
Technology
Technology is embedded in the curriculum at St. Philip Neri School. All classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards, laptops and i-pads. All students are involved in a Coding Program with Scope IT.
